High jewellery is the part of the trade where the stone stops being a component. Below it, a design is drawn and stones are bought to fill it, which is why two rings of the same model can be made a thousand times. Above it, the stone is the reason the piece exists at all, and the design has to be invented for it. SINGULLUM works only in the second way, and then adds one condition the trade does not usually accept.

The design is made once, and then it is retired. Not reissued, not resized, not reinterpreted.

The stone comes first, and decides the rest

Nothing is drawn until a stone is in front of the House. It is studied for colour, for proportion, for the way light moves through it, and for its inclusions — the internal features the market calls flaws and which are, read properly, the record of how the stone grew. A design then follows from that study until it belongs to the stone as naturally as its colour does.

That study is a skill, not a mood, and it can be learned. The Journal sets out what inclusions actually are and why a jardin can raise a stone’s value, which is the single most useful thing a first-time buyer of a coloured stone can read.

One of a kind, bespoke, or something weaker

These words are not synonyms, although they are sold as though they were. Made to order means the piece did not exist until you paid for it; it says nothing about how many others exist. Limited edition means a number was chosen — eight, twenty, one hundred — and that number is a marketing decision, not a constraint of the material. Bespoke means it was drawn for you, and usually says nothing about what happens to the drawing afterwards.

One of a kind is the only one of the four that claims there will not be another, and it is the one least often backed by anything. The Journal takes the four apart in full: one of a kind, bespoke, made to order or limited edition.

What the House undertakes

When a Creation is completed its design is permanently retired. The CAD is archived and withdrawn from production, the mould is destroyed or sealed, and the design does not return to the atelier in another stone, another colour, another metal or another size. This is a commitment about the future, which is the only kind that costs anything to make.

Bespoke high jewellery, from a stone of your own

Some stones are brought to the House rather than found by it — inherited, bought at a sale, or held loose for years while the decision about them was postponed. SINGULLUM Private begins there. The stone is read on the same terms, the design answers to it, and the finished Creation carries the same retirement as anything else the House makes.

How a commission begins

1. A private viewing is requested, and a conversation begins about the stone — yours, or one the House is reading.
2. The stone is studied, and what it can and cannot become is said honestly, including where another house would disagree.
3. A design is drawn for that stone alone, and revised until it belongs to it.
4. One Creation is made. The design is retired with it, and enters the Archive of the House.

This site is an introduction, not a shop. Nothing on it is offered for sale, and no Creation is transacted through it. The House receives by private appointment.
